FAQ - what platforms can Influence run on?

Document Actions
Influence recommend the following platforms for server and client environments

Server

Recommended.  Windows 2003 server , Windows 2000 server,  Windows 2000 or 2003 Small Business Server

Compatible.  Windows XP professional, Windows 2000 professional, Windows XP home

(there is a 10 user client connection restriction on Windows XP professional and Windows 2000 professional - these operating systems are not designed to be as efficient as the Microsoft Server environments as dedicated file or applications servers)

Influence can also be made available for most Unix and Linux platforms*

We recommend all servers have a minimum of 512MB Ram, with  a further 50MB per concurrent user

* Unix and Linux platforms are not recommended due to the tight integration of Influence and the Microsoft platform.  Systems installed on these platforms are subject to a full system survey and may require additional hardware and software in order to enable full functionality.

Client

Recommended. Windows XP professional, Windows 2000 professional

Compatible.  Windows XP home

(Windows XP home is not designed to function in a client server environment but is compatible with the Influence software)

Additional Software Requirements:

Microsoft Office 2000 or above,  Microsoft Outlook or Outlook Express for email integration

We recommend your client workstations have a minimum of 64MB Ram
